Who is Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra?
Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra was born on 14th September 1888 in Himaitpur, Pabna (now in Bangladesh). He was born into a humble Brahmin family to Sri Shibchandra Chakraborty and Srimati Manmohini Devi.
From an early age, he exhibited extraordinary spiritual awareness and healing capabilities. He pursued education in medical science in Calcutta and was deeply engaged in Bhakti Yoga, spiritual practice, and service to humanity.
He was not merely a religious figure; he was a living embodiment of Vedic values, scientific reasoning, and universal compassion. His life was a continuous expression of Satya (Truth), Tapasya (Austerity), Prem (Love), and Seva (Service).
Teachings of Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra
1. Integrated Development of Life
Sri Sri Thakur emphasized the total growth of personality—spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and economic. He introduced the concept of “Vivaha Yoga” (ideal marriage for ideal progeny), “Istavrity” (offering for spiritual connection), and “Satsang” (company of truth) as means for harmonious and progressive living.
2. Dharma & Religion
According to Sri Sri Thakur, Dharma is the spontaneous expression of existence. He rejected dogma and encouraged experiential spirituality. He stated, “Religion is not for mere rituals; it’s for becoming and evolving.”
3. Ideal-Centric Life
He taught that attachment to a living Ideal (Sadguru) is essential for spiritual evolution. The Ideal helps integrate the fragmented self into a unified whole. Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra is considered Yugavatara (prophet of the age), in line with past avatars like Sri Ramachandra, Sri Krishna, Sri Chaitanya, and Sri Ramakrishna.
4. Scientific Spirituality
He advocated for science and spirituality to go hand in hand. He promoted education based on realization, not memorization.
